Several helicopter companies offer thermal imaging facilities but only PDG have Flir trained, qualified thermographers operating the most advanced Radiometric airbourne camera system in Europe, the Flir-Polytech Kelvin 350III triple sensor system.

Gone are the days that engineers had to study hours of video tape watching for hot spots and then having to guess how severe any problem may be. Our custom built thermal image system offers far more than any other airborne system thanks to it's ability to accurately read temperatures of whatever it sees via an on board computer running Flir radiometric software. The high resolution (640x480) IR camera is extremely sensitive and accurate. Image stability is rock solid thanks to the latest 4-axis FOG gyro stabilisation.

In-flight, the operator views normal video and IR video simultaneously on a 10.4" split screen, whilst the on board tablet computer analyzes and captures the radiometric data. An on-screen 'spot' temperature readout allows the operator to see the live temperature data of whatever the camera looks at and so allows for instant reaction excess temperatures etc.
Once a item of interest is located the operator can command the system to automatically lock on to the item. A radiometric jpeg image is then captured of the subject together with a 14 mega-pixel still image with the built in Canon still camera. The 2 images are then GPS referenced and stored ready to produce the comprehensive post flight report in PDF format.

The system is supremely flexible and so can be used for a wide range of tasks including power line surveys, insulation surveys, wildlife studies and environmental surveys.

Post-flight data can be delivered in pdf format with full analysis or in individual file format, digital video for both normal video and IR, IR jpegs and standard jpegs from the stills camera.
